Lib Dems celebrate Christchurch result

Fri 4th Jul 2008

Liberal Democrats in Bexley are celebrating their second place in the Christchurch by-election, caused by former council leader Ian Clement taking a £124,000 a year job with Boris Johnson. Liberal Democrat candidate, and Bexley Borough Lib Dem Chair, Oliver Brooks said; "This is the beginning of the road back for the Lib Dems in Bexley. We came third in Christchurch in 2006 behind Labour. This result shows that local people like what the local Lib Dems are saying about value for money services, the Tories charging the highest Council Tax out of any neighbouring borough, cutting essential services and taking local people for granted."
